Senior Project Manager – Run Our Biggest Custom Millwork Projects with Schlaegle Design Build

Schlaegle Design Build Associates is a custom architectural woodwork shop in the Pittsburgh area. We build high-end millwork for commercial clients, and we are growing. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with 10+ years in the industry to run our largest and most complex projects.

This is a seat with real ownership. Your jobs are yours from handoff to final payment: the scope, the schedule, the margin, the customer, and the crisis when one shows up. You are not one of twelve PMs at a big outfit. You are the person the GC, the architect, and the owner call, and the person they ask for on the next one. For the right person, this seat is a path into leading our project management department.

What You’ll Do

• Run our largest and most complex millwork projects from handoff through final payment
• Own the margin on every job you run: know the number cold, see problems early, and act before they cost us
• Set the schedule the shop builds to, and drive Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to hit it
• Run submittals, shop drawing approvals, and RFIs so nothing sits and nothing gets missed
• Find, price, sell, and collect change orders, end to end
• Own billing accuracy and getting the job paid
• Be the single point of contact when a job goes sideways: run toward the problem, take command, and drive it to resolution
• Lead the customer relationship so the GCs, architects, and owners you work with come back and ask for us by name
• Raise the bar for how we run projects, and help the PMs around you get better

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years running commercial millwork, casework, or closely related construction projects
• You have run individual millwork packages of $500,000 and up, not just pieces of them
• Commercial and institutional work: hospitality, healthcare, higher ed, corporate interiors, retail
• Established relationships in the region with general contractors, architects, and owners: people who trust you, call you, and would be glad to hear you landed here
• A track record you can show jobs where you protected or grew margin, and what you did to make that happen
• Extreme ownership. When the job is late or over budget, your first sentence is “here’s my plan,” not “the shop missed it”
• Fluent reading drawings, specs, and contracts, and comfortable in front of a client
• Able to work on-site in the Pittsburgh area with a valid driver’s license; must pass a pre-employment background check
• A plus, not required: INNERGY or another ERP for millwork, AWI standards, Procore or Bluebeam, estimating experience, or time on the shop or install side.
