Full job description
Install Manager – Manage Installations to a Successful Finish with Schlaegle Design and Build Associates
Schlaegle Design Build Associates is a custom architectural woodwork shop in the Pittsburgh area. We build high-end millwork for commercial clients, and we are growing. We are seeking an experienced Install Manager to manage our installation crews and take ownership of the end results.
The Install Manager will lead a team consisting of two in-house Install Foremen, along with a fluctuating team of Union installation carpenters and occasionally additional subcontracted installers across multiple active job sites. You set safety standards and keep accurate information moving between the field, office and the production floor. You will act as a critical connection point between our installers, General Contractors, and our Project Management, Engineering, Production, and Logistics teams.
What You’ll Do
- First and foremost, you will ensure the safety of every team member in the field. Ensuring all general and site-specific PPE requirements are followed at all times.
- Confirm crews are cleared to work before they mobilize i.e. certificates of insurance, site orientations, and badging in place.
- Lead a team of two Install Foremen plus SDBA and subcontracted installers working across multiple job sites.
- Manage the day-to-day field workforce and raise staffing needs with the Director of Operations early.
- Own install coordination end to end: plan the work, sequence the crews, and deliver installations to project scope and on budget.
- Own the dates and durations for the install phase of the project and communicate accordingly.
- Provide timely and accurate field dimensions back to Project Managers and Engineering.
- Make sound judgment calls in the field as problems arise. Reporting decisions and impact back to the PM.
- Run punch lists to completion. Documenting what is open at substantial completion, schedule the return trips, and close them out.
- Hold team accountable to the project budget with accurate timekeeping and WO allocation.
- Bring what you learn on site back to Engineering and Project Management including practical install input at shop drawing review and feedback before parts hit the floor.
- Support Project Managers on customer issue resolution, shipment planning by area/item, and drawing updates that align with your field dimensions.
- Maintain and distribute site photos, project documents, and records.
- Build strong working relationships with the other trades on site.
- Attend internal team meetings and occasional external project meetings.
- Keep company tools maintained and consumable supplies inventoried.

- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, and project schedules.
- General proficiency with an ERP system and standard computer applications.
- Clean driving record and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card. SDBA employs dedicated drivers but occasionally must step in to support in critical moments.
Preferred Qualifications
